Frequently Asked Questions


Click on the spokewheel in the upper left hand corner. You can browse the catalog where you can add sources in four different ways: Featured sources, Browse, Search, or Reader.
You can also select one of our curated packs. We recommend you check out the Featured sources and curated packs!
If you’re in the tile-view, scroll to the bottom of the page and tap “+” to add a source.

Tap on the spokewheel in the top left corner to go to the set-up view. Click on the “x” in the top left corner of the source and it will disappear.

Click on the spokewheel in the top left corner of Pulse main page. Here you can drag and drop sources within and between pages.

In the tile-view, click on the “+” next to the title of the last page. In the set-up view, scroll to the right and tap “add a page.”

Tap the spokewheel in the top left corner to go to set-up view. Remove all the sources and the page will disappear.

Pages can be renamed in the tile-view and set-up view of Pulse. A long press on the name will bring you to the edit mode to change the name.

Pulse does not currently support the rearranging of pages.

In the tile-view, long press on the name of the source will bring you to edit view.

Curated packs appear on empty pages so add a new page or delete the sources on a page and the packs will reappear.

Click on the name of the page that you are on and all the pages will then be listed. You can similarly click on the page name that you are viewing to hide the others again.

iPad & iPhone - Go into General Device Settings. Scroll down to find Pulse in your list of applications. You can adjust your font size from there.
Android - When in the app, hit the external phone button "Menu", then "Settings" will pop up on the screen. Click "Article font size" and choose your preference.

Click the "+" button in the settings page of Pulse. In the navigation bar, touch "Browse", and then scroll down to "Social". Every platform supports Facebook, Twitter, Digg, Flickr, PicPlz, Reddit, Vimeo, and Youtube. iPad also supports your personal Twitter newsfeed.

Once you login to Google Reader and add your sources from there, Pulse will sync with the sources you've added from Google Reader. It's that easy! To log into Google Reader, touch "+"and in the navigation bar, touch "Reader". Enter your credentials and your device will sync with Google Reader.

After you've imported your feeds via Google Reader, connect with a Pulse.me account by going to .me in the upper right hand corner. Now, whenever you star items on Pulse, they will be starred on Google Reader as well.

The most common problem concerning Facebook involves making sure the proper credentials (username and password) are entered into Pulse. The first step to try and get this working again is to manually log out of Facebook and then log back in. To do this, follow the directions in the question directly below.

Pulse only requests certain information in order to be able to present you with the correct information in your social news sources. Pulse will never post to your Facebook page without you prompting you for approval at your request.

Pulse supports only one Twitter account at a time. If you wish to change the Twitter account you're connected to in Pulse, please follow these directions:
  1. Exit out of Pulse on your device.
  2. Log into your Twitter account on your computer.
  3. Click on the drop-down menu in the top right of the screen and then "Settings"
  4. Next, "Connections"
  5. Find Pulse in the list and click "revoke access"
  6. Open up Pulse again and then enter your new credentials

There are multiple ways to refresh your content in Pulse.

iPad & iPhone - Individual Streams Refresh: To refresh an individual stream (a row of news from a specific publisher), drag the stories all the way to the right and you’ll see an arrow in the left most tile space. Once you see the arrow, let go so it can snap back and refresh. Page Refresh: Page refresh is the same type of feature as the Individual Stream Refresh. Drag the page down until you see an arrow. Let go and your page will refresh.


Android - Individual Stream Refresh: To refresh an individual channel (a row of news from a specific publisher), tap the refresh icon to the top right of the stream.

Page Refresh: Drag the page down all the way down. Let go and your page will refresh.

Tap the “Menu” button, select “Data Usage” under the “Data Sync” category and tap “Background Updates.” From here, you can also manage the update frequency.

Android - Dark mode is a viewing mode optimized for nighttime use available to Pulse on Android. To turn it on/off push "Menu" within the Pulse app, and then "Settings". From there you can turn dark mode on or off.

Android - There is a problem rendering flash with Pulse on HTC phones. We are working hard to fix this, but in the meantime, we have given you the option to enable/disable flash in the settings menu within the app.

Pulse.me is your personal profile on Pulse. You can create a Pulse.me account by going to the .me icon in the upper right hand corner of the app on your device. Create your Pulse.me account to save stories to revisit later, sync those stories across devices and the web and send articles to Read it Later, Instapaper and Evernote.

Pulse.me is your personal profile on Pulse. You'll use it to integrate with Instapaper, Evernote and Read it Later. Go to the .me icon in the upper right hand corner of the app to create your Pulse.me account. Then, move over to the accounts tab at the bottom of the app. Login to the bookmarking services you want to connect with Pulse.me. Now, whenever you star an article on Pulse, it will be sent to the services you signed up with - in one simple tap!

Download the most current version of Pulse on your device. Sign into to Pulse.me and it’ll prompt you to sync your sources to the cloud. If you ever lose your sources, you can retrieve them from the cloud by logging into Pulse.me. To sync to your other devices, login to Pulse.me and the rest is magic!

Determine your parent device, the one with the sources you want to keep. Log out of Pulse.me to ensure these sources are unaffected by syncing. On your other devices, login to Pulse.me and delete the sources. This will give you a clean slate in the cloud. Back on your parent device, login to Pulse.me and enable sync. Those sources are now saved and ready to be added to the other devices. Go to your other devices, login to Pulse.me and it’ll enable you to sync.
